One thing this series has taught us time and again is that travel partners can absolutely cross paths while they’re on the road. But you’re just as likely to find your forever travel companion while you’re going about your daily life. Abhishek and Neha of Revolving Compass have a relationship that started much like ours: as close friends with lots of differences, who then evolved into something more, but with a shared love of travel. But they have so many unique experiences traveling as a couple and now as a family that we’ve loved getting to know them!
What’s your story?
From college buddies, to best friends, to life partners – it all happened in a short span of 5 years! Once we became life partners, we realized our interests were still very different but the one thing that united us was the love of travel. Soon travel to nearby destinations started and the more we did it, the more we craved for it! And soon we realized we also want to share our enriched travel experience to like minded people – and thus was born Revolving Compass!
Do you have the same travel style or different travel styles? How does this impact your adventures together?
Luckily, we have the same travel style. We don’t like going overboard, but rather relaxing during our travels. We both like natural destinations, beautiful and scenic places. And we both like similar kind of food as well.
What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned from traveling as partners? What makes your partnership work on the road?
We make all the decisions together – whenever there is confusion – whenever roads diverge and we have to decide which one to take – we know we can discuss it and decide.
What’s the best part about traveling as partners? And the biggest challenge?
The best part is you have someone to share all the special moments while you travel. And the biggest challenge is managing taking leave (from our regular job) at the same time and frequently.
Based on your experience, what’s the best advice you have for couples who have just scheduled their first trip together?
If you know what you both like, do that together. While also respect each other’s space when you travel, particularly when your travel styles differ.
Any additional thoughts to share?
We just can’t imagine traveling without each other. We are in the 10th year of our partnership , with 2 kids and still we have not taken any single vacation without each other all these years! Those who are used to travel alone might find the idea strange but it is really fun and nice to travel as a couple and as a family. Plus you have someone to share the chores with (which always helps!!)
