Most outdoorsy folk have heard of Red Rocks. So imagine our surprise when we saw “Red Rocks” on Google Maps about 5 minutes down the road from the restaurant we were sitting in in Colorado Springs! Naturally, we finished our lunch and set out – at which point we discovered Red Rock Canyon Open Space.
Colorado Springs’s greatest claim to fame is Garden of the Gods, with its towering red rock formations. But if you drive out onto the plains, you’ll find the Paint Mines Interpretive Park, conclusive proof that not every rock in this amazing place is red.
